Project Proposal

Hi friends, colleagues, relatives and those who are concerned with matters about me ")

This is a very very very long posting..hope you all dun mind.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhh…………………

Yup on 25th May 2007, I proposed to my girlfriend, Zee, and she accepted it! \(^_^)/

I hope to document everything down so that everyone can share my joy and most importantly get the full picture (also to record it down so that I wun be nag if I fail to remember! Keke).

Project Proposal

This concept was developed in 2007 January where I decided that I should try to get pictures from all over the world, with blessing from friends or natives staying in that area (see first posting).

Photo Gathering

I had since email people in Tibet, North and South Pole, Mount Everest and certainly countries such as India, Taiwan, US, South America and etc etc. Of which, a kind blogger in New York helped me took several nice pictures of New York Central Park. Very artistic and well taken. His name is Ming ") Thanks Ming!

In the end, I realized friends and colleagues are the best ") Tapping on my limited network of friends, most of my friends and colleagues happily agreed to assist me. Soon photos from Los Angeles, Phuket, Taipei, Sydney, India, Caribbean (Grenada), Mexico, Cuba (restricted area!), London, Belgium and South Africa! All continents except North and South Poles are covered!

Blink Blink aka the carbon-turn-into-expensive rock

Zee did indicate that she hope to get a 0.3 diamond ring and preferably from a decent jewellery shop. From here, I limited my choices to either Lee Hwa’s Destinee or Soo Kee Brilliant Rose. However, after reading some forum postings in one of the local wedding forum, I realized Soo Kee’s Brilliant Rose would be more suitable.

There I am…walking into Soo Kee store in Central *it was a very very very terrifying experience for a guy who never walk into an expensive jewellery store!*

However, I am fortunate to say that the Sales assistant did a wonderful job explaining to me patiently on the range of Brilliant Rose diamond Ring. This is also the first time that I need to set a huge budget for the ring. T_T

Soon, I asked my colleagues for the DBS credit card which can enjoy 5% offer! (trust me for that price, every percent count!) Better yet, Eileen indicated that she has the Soo Kee member card and a POSB card! ^_^

After choosing, picking and much discussion, I decided on this blink blink (^_^)

It fits within her demand, although it did stretch my budget by another 10-20%...but I think it is worth it ")

Later on, I realized that the ring size was way too big. Fortunately, I secretly copied Zee’s ring size (drawing the internal circumference of the ring) and obtain the perfect size (at least that what I think haha).

Music for the presentation

Long long time ago, during our 6-month anniversary, I created a lame but touching flash for my Zee. I remember I used the Instrumental song, Hear me Cry from Love Generation, a Japanese Drama. I believe this song holds important and precious memory for me and Zee.

Next song will be Chasing Car from Snow Patrol. After hearing their MTV, I decided to use it for the 2nd part of my presentation.

Compilation of Presentation

It took me more than 10 days to choose, edit and mix and match the entire presentation. Sleeping at 2-3am every night certainly affect my attention span at work and life haha…

But I am glad that I completed it in time.

Other Props – Musical Box

This musical box was purchased at the end of 2006 when I was in Australia, Sydney for a conference. It was a toy musical box where a king is always chasing a queen. Then, I found it very suitable for my proposal plan (Yes this sound mushy, but I already have the idea that Zee will be the one forever).

Venue – Bangkok

Trust me…going a trip with a diamond ring in your small bag is a terrifying experience especially when you need to go to busy packed shopping malls such as Platinum Mall. T_T … I was a bit paranoid, checking my bag every hour or so…(>.<)|||

I plan to propose to her in a nice restaurant in Patpong/Silom area where we had our first dinner in Bangkok during our first vacation trip. I remember that was the first time Zee took a plane to another foreign country. The restaurant has soft lighting and nice atmosphere. Further information can be found here, http://www.bangkoktourist.com/res_silomvillage1.php

HOWEVER….

Her friends appeared! You see almost half of the NIE teachers are in Bangkok enjoying their short break before starting work…Her friends decided to meet up and shop. At the end of shopping…they decided to join us for the dinner…>.< ( I could have hinted to them but I guess since Zee is enjoying her friends’ companionship…it is best to leave thing as it is).

Venue – Baiyoke Sky Hotel Room

While Zee is bathing, I start to prepare my item…the presentation video file in my PDA, the musical box and certainly the ring. I have also changed in a long sleeve shirt and pant to show my sincerity (I mean no one propose in shorts and sleeveless T shirt right? Unless you are doing it at a beach ") )

When she finished bathing, I asked her to sit on the bed…She asked why I am in such a formal dressing. I say we are going out soon. Haha…

I showed her our 6-month flash clip to refresh her memory

Next the video clip…I must admit the counting down part made us giggle. The reason for 4 was that it has nearly been 4 years since we got together… ")

When the video end…I knee down…with the musical box where the ring is with the queen

…and pop the question, “will you marry me?”

She nodded…and I helped her wear the ring. After which, she cried (which mean she is touched haha). The ring was a perfect fit…phew…I was afraid whether it will be too small or too big :P

The rest of story? Haha ….couple secret ") ß- relax…no baby is due soon.

I am glad I proposed and let Zee be my love and my companion for the rest of our life. Certainly, there will be argument, disagreement and hopefully not fights but we will always try to communicate and stay together…not forgetting the love we had and have. No relationship is ever smooth sailing but let us try and complete this path together. I am not blind but simply optimistic that we can do it ")

Thanks everyone for reading this long long long thread…and thanks for all the help.

Oh ya…BIG ANG PAO if I ever have a wedding dinner haha…
